Jade scores 6.5–7 on the Mohs hardness scale, which puts it just below quartz and well above turquoise or amber. In practice, that means a jade bangle survives the kind of bumps that would chip a softer stone. And there's a tactile thing nobody mentions in spec sheets: jade stays cool against your skin and feels almost soapy when polished. Once you've worn it for a week, picking up a glass bead feels strange.

Imperial green gets all the attention, but jade also comes in white, lavender, grey, and the rare honey-orange varieties our grandparents used to favour.
